The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) vide Trade Notice No. 22/2023 dated 16.08.2023 has issued final notice to the agencies that are enlisted under Appendix 2E of Foreign Trade Policy for issuing Non Preferential Certificate of Origin (CoO) , to complete their on-boarding process on the DGFT Common Digital platform for issuance of Certificate of Origin (URL: https://coo.dgft.gov.in) up to 31-08-2023.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has taken a significant stride in this direction by introducing a pioneering initiative that promises to streamline the process of obtaining Non-Preferential Certificates of Origin (CoOs) through a digital platform.
DGFT Common Digital Platform for issuance of Non-Preferential Certificate of Origin (CoO)
The electronic platform for Certificate of Origin (CoO), accessible at https://coo.dgft.gov.in, has been designed to provide a secure, contact-less, and convenient single window for CoO-related procedures. It aims to simplify the application process, reduce paperwork, and enhance efficiency in trade-related activities.
Transition Period for online filing of application for Non- Preferential Certificate of Origin (CoO)
Earlier vide Trade Notice No. 27/2022-23 dated 28.03.2023, DGFT has extended the transition period for mandatory filing of applications for Non-Preferential Certificate of Origin through the e-CoO platform, up to 31.12.2023 allowing for a gradual shift towards digital filing.
During this interim period, the existing systems of processing Non- Preferential CoO applications in manual/ paper mode is permitted.
W.e.f. 01.01.2024, Exporters will have to file online application for issuance of Non- Preferential Certificate of Origin (CoO) through e-CoO platform.
